2. The paper work is then sent to the Technical Chairman who has to physically
reissue a new certificate with a new expiry date. This is then sent back to the boat
owner who files it. We have a central register, which has negated the need for the
certificate to be carried on the boat while racing.
During this process the boat is not checked, and the new certificate is reissued on the
basis of the owner certifying certain things about the boat. There are boats renewing
every year with the life of a certificate being 2 years.
New system.
The national committee have proposed a new system, which streamlines the renewal
and brings all renewal dates to the same year. It is as follows
With effect from 30th April 2018, in the case of the renewal of a boat’s certificate
where there has not been any changes since the last certificate was renewed,
the payment for the renewal period of 2 years will be £12. By implication upon
renewal the owner is deemed to have confirmed the following:
That the vessel complies with current Nordic Class rules.
That each sail has been measured by an official measurer and has been fitted
with an official NFIA Red button
That the mast & boom are marked by measurement Bands.
That no alteration has been made to any corrector weights, either
as originally fitted, or subsequently fitted on any re-weighing of the vessel.
Payment shall be made by Bank transfer to the UK Folkboat Class Association’s
bank account and will include a reference which shall be the boat’s name.
From 30th April 2019 the certificate will be valid for 2 years. The register of boats
with current certificates will be kept centrally by the Class Secretary and made
available on the UK Folkboat Class Association’s website. This obviates the need
to issue a renewed Certificate to the owner.
If any of the following applies then an application to include the payment of £20
for new certificate should be made to the Class Secretary:
The boat is unavailable for inspection for a period of a year.
The boat has been subject to a protest and found not to comply with the UK
Folkboat Class Association’s Regulations.
The boat has been altered, repaired or refitted so that its weight or measurement
may have changed.
The recorded corrector weights have been altered.
The ownership of the boat changes.
New certificates issued will run until the next biannual date then be renewed as
detailed in part a.
