Walcon Cup 2025
The celebrations of the 60th Folkboat Week started on the Saturday with the first day of the Walcon Cup. With five two boat teams competing in windward/leeward races out in Christchurch Bay. The second day of the Walcon Cup was incorporated into the first day of Folkboat Week with two Solent races. The Walcon Cup, sponsored by Walcon Engineering has only ever been won by a Danish team and there was a strong team including Per Buch, the recent past chairman of the Nordic Folkboat International International Association and Ditte Andreasen the daughter of Erik Andreasen (the first winner of the Walcon Cup in 1989). Both days saw close racing but for the first time a UK team came out on top; with team 'Gybeng Swan' comprising GBR F669 Gybe n' helmed by Cy Grisley and GBR F702 'Svane' helmed by Harry Hall taking the honours.
