The New Seasons Message – from the Chairman – Kim Morley

First things first  – Let me introduce myself and bring you all up to speed with the changes to the Folkboat Association team .

I took over from David Fox at the March AGM as the Folkboat Association Chairman and continue also as the Hamble Fleet Captain. David continues to support as the Yarmouth Fleet Captain. Chris Fox has taken on the role of Vice Chairman, as well as the Lymington Fleet Captain role. All other roles on the committee remain the same.

I am a passionate Folkboater – who first started racing and cruising a Nordic Folkboat in the 80’s and now race Nordic Folkboat Valhalla out of the Hamble.

I am really excited to take on this role and continue to support all aspects of Folkboating, from driving forward and building our racing fleets; ensuring competitive one design racing; encouraging classics racing and cruising and continuing to build our special Folkboat community.

We are a broad church  and I am committed to promoting and growing the participation of all aspects of Folkboats. Look out for the sharing of a lot more information,  articles, news and updates on all things Folkboating on the both this website’s news feed as well as our facebook channel.

The 2024 season is going to be a very exciting one indeed! Lymington  and Yarmouth have already completed their spring series and the Hamble Fleet is underway with its Saturday Series.

This year we continue to expand our participation across the Solent fleets – with a new 3 round day race series  (Prince Consort 11 May , Christchurch Ledge 31st August  and the Turkey Cup 29th September) – open to all Nordic Folkboats as well as continuing to build on our successful Summer Weekend Series at Lymington (22nd/23rd June) Taittinger (13th/14thJuly), and Hamble, Battle of Britain (14th/15th Sept)  for both Nordics and Classics and I would encourage you to join in and support these events as we look to continue building an exciting race program.  The full calendar is in the news feed https://www.folkboats.com/news/folkboat-local-national-and-international-programme-2023-2-2/

We also have 5 British Nordics who making the trip to Sweden to compete in  Gold Cup 2024 at Halmstad. Not to late to join the fleet  follow this link for details – https://www.folkboats.com/news/nordic-folkboat-gold-cup-2024-halmstad-sweden-update/
