secluded anchorages is brought up short
                                             by the reality of a rather uninspiring
                                             stretch of water. The Newtown River in
                                             the Solent is just as magical and the New
                                             Inn a lovely destination. Errol Flynn has
                                             long gone, and the yacht club seems a
                                             little unfriendly, not helped by the fact
                                             that they lock the bins so you can’t put
                                             your rubbish ashore.












     We spent the week revisiting all the
     harbours I’d been to a couple of weeks
     before, smug with my recently gained
     local knowledge but minus one winch. I
     must say that I’m still not in love with   St Mawes on the other hand has all the
     Frenchman’s and the Helford River as    welcoming charm of a nineteen fifties
     much as I thought I would be. I think the   seaside resort and despite bumping into
     expectation of secret quays and magical
